The New England Regional Quilt Study Group welcomes you to Manchester, New Hampshire and Seminar 2017! New England is the cradle of the American Industrial Revolution and a region famous for its textile history. We hope to take you back to the roots of many American quilting traditions through presentations, exhibits, tours, and study centers. Our Friday evening keynote speaker will be Dr. Marla Miller, director of the Public History program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dr. Miller will be speaking about Hadassah Chapin Ely’s wholecloth quilt, which is in the collection of Historic Deerfield. During our Saturday luncheon Robert B. Perreault, historian and writer, will discuss the life and times of the workers of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. Tours will explore textile-related sites in Manchester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Lowell and Haverhill, Massachusetts. Our Seminar venue, the Radisson Hotel Manchester Downtown, is conveniently located near restaurants and local attractions in the downtown commercial district and offers a free shuttle from the Manchester airport. We look forward to sharing our rich heritage with you in October 2017!
