2026 Seminar Exhibit - Friends of the Needle
Friends of the Needle will be presenting an exhibit of antique and vintage quilts at Seminar 2026. The focus is amazing quilting. THEY ARE CALLED QUILTS FOR A REASON plans to trace the evolution and impact of American quilting styles over the past three centuries. From the stunning whole cloth white works of the early 19th century to the embracing of machine quilting in the late 20th century.
The exhibit will feature quilts owned by AQSG members, and we invite you to participate. If you have an antique or vintage quilt that has a WOW factor or quilting that just is plain unusual, please consider entering it. The submission instructions and form are available on the AQSG website. You may submit up to 5 quilts. The deadline is April 8, 2026 and those selected will be notified by May 1st. This is not a juried show but simply an opportunity to celebrate the art of the needle. Please note that we are looking for antique or vintage quilts, not your latest creation.

Have you ever considered leading a Study Center at Seminar?
We are taking applications for Study Center Presenters to speak at Seminar 2026 in Lincoln, Nebraska!
Study Center topics embrace everything to do with quilts, fabrics, trends, history, and, of course, the people within the broad quilt community. These sessions are an opportunity to share your passion, knowledge, and experience with others who are equally interested in everything to do with quilts, offering participants the opportunity to learn in a smaller, interactive environment.
Presentations can include a PowerPoint, lecture, hands-on experience, quilt turning or combination. Physical examples of fabrics/quilts and handouts of the presentation are very much appreciated by attendees.

What is Seminar?
AQSG's feature event is our annual Seminar. Held in a different location every year, Seminar brings quilt enthusiasts and scholars together for a weekend of quilts and quilt study. In addition to the presentation of research papers chosen for publication in Uncoverings, Seminar offers pre-conference tours of museums and private collections, study centers, engaging speakers, panel presentations, and a poster session. Other events include live and silent auctions of quilts and other treasures; show-and-tell of remarkable quilts, textiles, and related items; an on-site special quilt exhibition; and the sale of vintage quilts and textiles by member dealers from across the country.
