PUBLICATIONS WORKSHOPS
Publication Overview and Panels/Posters Workshop
Watch Publications Overview & Panels/Posters Workshop Here
Join us for a look at how you can participate in the AQSG panel and poster program held every year at seminar. Many AQSG members who are just starting their research take advantage of the panel or poster sessions to present their initial findings to other seminar attendees. That open forum can lead to valuable networking that might even produce more information about their topics! Past Poster and Panel participants will discuss their experiences presenting their research, with time set aside for your personal questions. We will discuss the project you are pursuing to hopefully team you up with the best platform for your research needs!
Blanket Statements and Uncoverings Workshop

Join us and learn how you can write for Blanket Statements, the quarterly newsletter published by AQSG. Many AQSG members who want to share their research use Blanket Statements to present their findings to other members. Each issue has at least one research article, AQSG news, research notes and queries, quilt world news, and exhibit information.
Do you have an idea for a research project but wonder how AQSG’s paper publication process works? Join us for a Zoom discussion of how you can submit a paper for Uncoverings, the annual research journal published by AQSG. Each volume typically includes four to six full-length research papers, which are published before the annual seminar. Authors present a shortened form of their paper at the seminar.
Oral Presentations and Mentoring Workshop

Are you hesitant about standing in front of a group of people and sharing your quilt-related research? We can help! Our goal is to help you create a formal presentation of your research that is clear and keyed to your audience. We will give you tips on how to create a PowerPoint presentation, share your knowledge leading an in-person study center, talk with AQSG members during a seminar panel or poster session, or present your information during a virtual online study center. We are here to encourage and can even offer practice sessions, if desired! We will answer your questions about the process and, as time permits, discuss the project you are working on, give some tips, and review guidelines and procedures for presenting your information orally.
Do you have a research project about which you have been collecting information and wondered if it is something you should write up? Have you found new information about a quilt(s), quilter(s), quilt technique, or quilting community that you think might be of interest to others or might even change how we think about quilt history? BUT, maybe you feel confused about where and how to start. Maybe you think you might have more information than you can organize into an informative paper or presentations. OR, you have been working well and diligently and you think you are ready to submit your work…OR you have submitted but it was not accepted for any variety of reasons including too many other submissions. Also, maybe you are afraid to speak before an audience and cannot bring yourself to submit your information for publication. We can help with that! Many AQSG members have been able to overcome all these obstacles and have helped us all learn new things or confirm old assumptions about quilts and quilt history. And many of them needed a mentor who was able to get them to the finish line.
